ReAct Funding
What is ReAct+?
ReAct+ offers tailored support to those trying to re-enter the labour market by removing barriers and providing grant support for vocational training, travel costs and care (including childcare) related to training.
ReAct+ is a grant programme that builds on the success of previous programmes and contributes to the Welsh Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee.
Eligibility
To be eligible for ReAct+ support you must be aged 20 or over, be a resident in Wales and have a right to live and work in the UK.
You must also meet ONE of the criteria below:
- Aged 20 or over and under formal notice of redundancy or
- Aged 20 or over and your job has been made redundant in the last 6 months or
- Aged 20 or over and are an ex-offender or an offender serving a community sentence
How does it work?

A Working Wales adviser will provide impartial, expert careers information, advice and guidance and will explore all of the options available to you.
If ReAct+ is the right fit, an adviser will support you with your application and help you create an action plan. Once your eligibility has been verified and your plan is approved, your adviser will submit your grant application via the ReAct+ online portal.
What is available to you through ReAct+?
The support you get is tailored specifically to you and your situation. All support is designed around getting you back into employment in the shortest time possible.
ReAct+ provides a grant of up to £1,500 to help you get the relevant skills you need and can also provide:
- Up to £2,100 to help cover childcare/caring costs when you’re training
- Up to £200 of extra support towards additional costs when you’re training, including travel and accommodation
How ReAct+ could support your next employer
Have a prospective employer in mind? A prospective employer could apply for help with your wages if you are aged 20 or over and disabled (inclusive of people with physical impairment, neurodivergence and mental health), and one of the following:
- Under formal notice of redundancy or
- Within 6 months of the date of redundancy or
- An ex-offender or an offender who is serving their sentence in the community
In all cases, you must also be resident in Wales at the date of redundancy and at the date you make your application for funding.
You must not have worked for 6 weeks or more since your redundancy before they apply. You also must not start working for your new employer until the support is approved.
What support is available to an employer?
If you qualify under ReAct+, your new employer could get:
- Up to £4000 towards your wages in your first year of your new job
The job you’re applying for must:
- Be for at least 16 hours a week
- Pay at least the national minimum wage
- Must be expected to last for at least 12 months
- Not be paid for by other government funding
Important: Your new employer will not receive support under ReAct+ if you start working for them before the support package has been approved. They will also not receive support if you have worked for 6 weeks or more since your redundancy and before they apply.
